IN CHARGE OF INTERNET PROGRAMMING CONCENTRATION

Internet Services Technology is a rapidly growing field. Internet programming is a brand new field of computer programming and Internet Services Technologies.

Internet programming refers to:

  • web development,
  • web design,
  • web programming,
  • web applications,
  • website maintenance,
  • networking, as well as
  • distributing programming.

By taking the concentration in Internet Programming students will gain expertise in (a) computer programming fundamentals, (b) Web programming, (c) Internet-based application software development. The knowledge and skills gained in this concentration will be valuable at job-hunting time.

In their final year of study, students complete a senior project which is an Internet-based application.

Career Opportunities
The explosive growth in the use of the Internet has created a demand for new set of skills. Starting and running a business using the Internet continue to be “in-demand” career skills. Students may be marketable for jobs such as a web designer, web developer, web programmer, web manager, e-commerce manager, web marketing manager, web technician, or a web server administrator.

Following the completion of the concentration in Internet Programming:

IN CHARGE OF SOME STUDENTS MAJORING IN E-COMMERCE

E-commerce definition: The buying and selling of products and services by businesses and consumers through an electronic medium, without using any paper documents. E-commerce is widely considered the buying and selling of products over the Internet, but any transaction that is completed solely through electronic measures can be considered e-commerce. E-commerce is subdivided into three categories: business to business or B2B (Cisco), business to consumer or B2C (Amazon), and consumer to consumer or C2C (eBay) also called electronic commerce.

The e-commerce degree combines economic principles with software applications to help you use the Internet to create business opportunities. Students may find yourself working within an online existing business or as an entrepreneur for your own e-marketing venture. Job roles can include market research, product buying decisions, and Web design or maintenance.
